Friday 18 October 2019 / Hour 4, Block C: Sid Perkins, Science Magazine, in re: A few kilometers inland from the sea in Chile, fossilized whale bones.  Was beachfront property nine million years ago.  Named “Whale Hill” from the many fossils and skeletons of marine mammals. These whales were mostly preserved belly-up, showing they’d died at sea.  Thought that it may have been a toxic algal bloom.  . . .  Five hundred million years ago in Greenland, a two-foot-long shrimplike creature, then one of the biggest creatures on art. Paleontologists reconstructed what it was. Looks sort of like a vacuum cleaner. Part of the original Cambrian radiation.
Friday 18 October 2019 / Hour 4, Block D:  Jeff Bliss, Pacific Watch, in re: Twitter in San Francisco.  Debra Saunders in the SF Chronicle: rich people.  Many long-term citizens are being pushed out by astronomical real estate prices.  Pot party in the city:  attracted a mountain range of trash – on April 20, national pot day – a huge party in Golden Gate Park, where tens of thousands of people show up, including every kind of vendor, including drugs.  They leave a massive mess.

      “Free Shrimp Boy” (Raymond Shrimp Boy Chow), a local gangster caught up in a large FBI dragnet.
