GLOBAL BUSINESS REPORT SPONSORED BY THE REPUBLIC OF AZERBAIJAN
Tuesday 23 October 2018/ Hour 1, Block B:   Elizabeth Peek, Fox News and The Hill, in re: The “caravan” marching 1,500 miles northward toward the US border. Congress has failed us in this; the Democrats do not want to do anything, and Hispanics are beginning to see that they're being used.   The march is being funded by activists.  This should not be allowed, and it’s not the first time we’ve faced this – remember 2000 [and Pancho Villa --ed].  . . . Midterm politics.
Tuesday 23 October 2018/ Hour 1, Block C:   Josh Rogin, Washington Post, in re:  MBS and KSA.  The disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi.  “Pre-meditated”?  UN Convention against Torture. Now that we learn that the disappearance occurred at the behest of MBS. There’s a range of actions both criminal and civil that nations around the world can bring to bear. Using intl is difficult.  “anyone tortured by any govt official anywhere can be prosecuted [anywhere]”  Saudi is a signatory to this convention Also, Torture Victims’s Protection Act in the US.  Examples: Belgium against a Senegalese; the president of Chad; Germany vs. the Syrian air force.
“Universal jurisdiction: any country that wants to charge and try someone, may.  The Saudi prrosecution probably will fall on a European Country.
The Global Magnitsky Act: if it comes into effect, all the officials will be barred from visiting the US.
Tuesday 23 October 2018/ Hour 1, Block D:   Bill Whalen, Hoover, in re: Trump the nationalist. The oddity of the 2018 political map; Democrats’ making inroads into the legislatures?  Maybe into the House, but for the moment it looks modest, to maybe 225 seats (260 when Obama came in).  President’s approval rating has skyrocketed to 47%

A new book, generated by five years of discussions on the John Batchelor Show:
War with Russia?  From Putin and Ukraine to Trump and Russiagate, by Stephen F Cohen
SFC: This is a John Batchelor production!  The main theme is that the new cold war is more dangerous than was the preceding one.  What strikes me is that there’s been almost no real discussion of this. The big structural issues – including the danger of a nuclear war – how little discussion of the prospect of nuclear a war until Trump made this vital step yesterday.  . . .
