Hour One
Wednesday 2 September 2020  / Hour 1, Block A:  John A Catsimatidis, Cats Roundtable radio & Red Apple Media. @JCats2013 @CatsRoundtable @JohnCats, in re: State of the City, the State, the Union: NYC famously liberal Democratic Upper West Side overrun by hundreds of abandoned addicts and their dealers; & What is to be done?
Manhattan’s Upper West Side travails; Harlem, and the shooting in front of the Whole Foods.
The city has made it impossible for a balance on the Upper West Side because drug-addicted men have been put in hotels, where they do business and overwhelm the neighborhood.
On 31 Dec, Mayor DeBlasio took 10,000 prisoners from Rikers Island and distributed them across the city, largely in hotels.  We used to have 30, 000 mentally ill; now we're told we have only 3,000. They need help. Thirteen thousand local citizens, most of whom voted for DeBlasio, suddenly see the picture very differently now and will never vote for him or his associates again, and are agitating for wiser treatment of the drug-addicted and mentally ill new residents
People who commit a crime with a gun are cut loose immediately, given the rough equivalent of a parking ticket. After DeBlasio fired many police, and our having thousands resign in the immediate past, the only way to keep up even vaguely is to put the remaining cops on a great deal of overtime.
New York elects a new mayor in November 2021. Nobody likes that answer.  What solution?  NYC wants federal money—from the president, who’s a businessman; he ought to say, “If I give you $1 billion, will you keep the citizens safe?”   The only way to do that is to install a federal monitor.
Otherwise, hordes will move out and never return. A few weeks after 9/11, we knew it was over and restored out city; now, the mayor has handcuffed the police instead of the criminals.  Major criminal rackets have targeted the West Side—but no matter what crime they commit, they're out before the police can complete the paperwork
Wednesday 2 September 2020  / Hour 1, Block B:  Williamson Evers, Independent Institute, Hoover, and WSJ editorial board, in re:  California's unacceptable prejudices.  Ethnic studies is a discipline growing from the California student strike of the late 1960s.   Through the lens of African-American and Marxist studies.  . . .  Are the now-relevant persons oppressed or a [cog] in the capitalist system? Victimology. Cultural resilience?
Need to study multiple ethnic groups, incl Koreans, Jews, Irish.  Obligatory high school ethnic studies derive from college courses. State Board of Education, apptd by the governor, seem to be the intellectual progenitors of the content.    https://www.wsj.com/articles/critical-ethnic-studies-returns-to-california-11598568504
Wednesday 2 September 2020  / Hour 1, Block C: Scott Harold, senior political scientist at the RAND Corporation,  in re: Japan without Abe; the US without Abe. @GordonGChang, @ScottWHarold  https://www.cnbc.com/2020/08/31/japans-next-prime-minister-faces-a-difficult-year-ahead-after-abe-resigns.html
Wednesday 2 September 2020  / Hour 1, Block D: Charles Ortel, On the Money with Charles Ortel podcast, in re: China’s big banks lose big.  https://www.cnbc.com/2020/08/31/profit-declines-for-chinas-big-banks-in-first-half-of-2020-due-to-bad-loans-during-coronavirus.html

Hour Two
Wednesday 2 September 2020  / Hour 2, Block A:  Andrew C McCarthy, Ball of Collusion, and Thaddeus McCotter, American Greatness, in re:  What is the Travel Act and how can it solve the disorder in Blue cities? @AndrewCMcCarthy @NRO    https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/meet-the-travel-act/
Wednesday 2 September 2020  / Hour 2, Block B:  Andrew C McCarthy, Ball of Collusion, and Thaddeus McCotter, American Greatness, in re: Michael Flynn and his ordeal, which was not built on fact. Judge Sullivan. We had hoped that this could be resolved quickly, but now it looks as though it’ll be stretched out past the November election.  The unhappy timeline for the resolution of the Michael Flynn prosecution. @AndrewCMcCarthy @NRO . https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/with-election-looming-judge-sullivan-will-drag-out-the-flynn-case/
Wednesday 2 September 2020  / Hour 2, Block C: Bob Zimmerman, BehindtheBlack.com, in re:  NASA Mars probe InSight discovers Martian soil is strange.    https://behindtheblack.com/behind-the-black/points-of-information/problem-with-insights-weather-station/
Wednesday 2 September 2020  / Hour 2, Block D: Bob Zimmerman, BehindtheBlack.com, in re: The astonishing array of American rocket boosters for launch on a weekend in August.

Hour Three
Wednesday 2 September 2020  / Hour 3, Block A: Aaron Klein, strategist for PM Netanyahu, in re: Saudi Arabia has allowed all UAE flights to overfly Saudi.  An enormous breakthrough, Heralds Middle East peace, the third between Israel and an Arab country.  Celebratory videos coming out of Israel; some Arabs have signed up to learn Hebrew online.  Technology, culture science, oil and gas, history—countless areas of common interest, as well as legitimate concerns about Iran. Oman, Chad, Sudan, Bahrain, may join. Netanyahu Doctrine: peace in exchange  for peace; and peace from a position of strength.   The PM for many years was alone in endeavoring to create a peaceful Middle East—while certain nations [conspicuously] did not.  Trump’s historic plan that among other things puts the Palestinian economy on steroids; the PA rejected it.
Wednesday 2 September 2020  / Hour 3, Block B:  Bud Weinstein, Maguire Energy Institute, SMU; in re: Brownouts.  California is determined to abandon fossil fuels entirely by 2050,. Doubtful that that’ll be possible. This summer’s blackouts & brownouts were caused by overreliance on solar energy without base load backup. At least, build batteries.  Biggest problems for Cali: they're expensive, and furthermore need 8 to 10 gigawatts of storage—which will take decades to build. Cali has been buying power from other states, and with the heat wave, not much excess power is available, and because of this shortage, it's horribly expensive. Backyard generators run on diesel, and generate not a whole lot of energy.  There’s plenty of natural gas in California; LA runs on natgas, so hasn't had blackouts.
Wednesday 2 September 2020  / Hour 3, Block C:  Cleo Paskal, FDD, in re: China’s “nibble and negotiate strategy,” whereby it holds peace parleys then moves troops forward to steal more Indian territory. India saw this, and moved troops that had been acclimatized to the extreme height and cold of the Himalayas.  China has killed yet another Indian officer, a Tibetan; as China tried to steal strategic locati0ns, India responded strongly and China failed.  China keeps probing to see how it can rally its own domestic nationalism.  More on Chinese apps, which are singularly unwelcome in India, as economic and espionage infiltration, Beijing isn’t backing down.
Tibetan supergene for highest altitudes is descended from the ancient Denisovans!   China won't understand the irony of killing ancient ancestors. Tibetans lost not only their physical homeland but their spiritual homeland, which gives people a lot of energy.  Supply Chain Resilience Initiative.  Lots going on in many complex areas.  Xi is forcing others to take stronger defense positions as well as create alliances.  HH the Dalai Lama.  Dharamsala
Wednesday 2 September 2020  / Hour 3, Block D:  Rick Fisher, Senior Fellow on Asian Military Affairs at the International Assessment and Strategy Center, in re: Bombers to fend off China’s technological advances. Rotated through Guam and Diego Garcia.  PRC’s nuclear arsenal—large, in tunnels in Western China?  We really don’t have enough information.  China has everything underground: bomb factories, nuclear.
